Types of Security

Special Protection group – The India Special protection Group (SPG) is a special protections force whose objective is to providing protection security to the Prime Minister of India and member of their immediate family anywhere in the world. It was formed in 1988 by an act of the Parliament of India after the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984.

Z+ Security

Z+ type of security cover has 36 personnel including more than 10 the National Security Guard commandos and it is consider second to SPG category. All the commandos are equipped with advanced weapons and also with latest gadgets and gizmos.

Z Security

This Z category of security has cover of 22 personnel which includes Four or Five National Security Guard or NSG commandos.The extra security given by the Delhi Police or the CRPF and one escort car. The Commandos are armed with submachine guns and modern communication equipment as well. Also they are well trained in martial arts and unarmed combat skills.

Y security

The VIPs who come under this category of security cover are provided with 11 security personnel, including one or sometimes two commandos and two Protective Service officers (PSO).

X Security

This category of security cover only have two personnel provide security under this category and this type of security only entails the most basic protection to the individual.

So the Special Protection Group (SPG), National Security Guard (NSG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) are the various agencies responsible for providing securities to VVIPs, VIPs, politicians, high-profile celebrities and sportspersons. NSG is used extensively to guard VIPs and VVIPs Specially to those who are in the Z+ category and many NSG personnel are seconded to the Special Protection Group (SPG) which only guard to the Prime Minister of India.
